MACROAREE TEMATICHE
The "macroaree tematiche" are the environment in which scientific and technological projects of interest for INAF are proposed. They are defined by the Administrative Council upon advice of the Scientific Council. Their membership is formed by researchers, technologists of the technical-scientific sector, including non-permanent personnel, graduate technicians who are invested with research tasks or collaborate directly with researchers, employed by Universities or by other research institutions, staff of industries who are associated to INAF, and staff who have conducted or conduct research of significant interest for INAF: in particular, retired professors and research staff who are associated to INAF.
Membership requests for the "macroaree tematiche" occur on an individual basis, using the appropriate forms.
An individual may be a member of at most two "macroaree", one of which should be indicated as primary. Technologists belonging to sector M5, "technical-scientific", may also become members of the "macroaree tematiche", following the procedures indicated on the forms.

TECHNOLOGY SECTORS
Technological staff - including non-permanent staff, staff of Universities and other research institutions who are associated to INAF, industry staff who are associated to INAF, and retired staff associated to INAF who have conducted or conduct technological activities of significant interest for INAF - are members of the technology sectors.Membership requests for the technological sectors occur on an individual basis, using the appropriate forms.
An individual may be a member of at most two sectors, one of which should be indicated as primary. Technologists who indicate sector 3 "technical scientific" as their primary sector, may at the same time request primary membership of "macroarea" M5, "Advanced technology and instrumentation", and
secondary membership of another scientific "macroarea".

NB - Active and passive electoral rolls, as defined by the Statute of INAF, will be formed exclusively on the basis of primary membership.
